Glossary / Entity

Entity

DefinitionAn entity is a node in the network — a thing, a feeling, an action, a process, a person, a system or an organisation.

When we look at the world as a network, very different kinds of “things” show up in it. In the abstract model we call them nodes. In the real world we call them entities. At its core, an entity is energy from which signals emanate — a person, an object, a word, a feeling.

The second assumption matters here: every entity is itself made of infinitely many entities and relations. You can zoom into any entity and find another network inside — much like a fractal structure.
